Notes On Life Learnings.
Enough
There is a sweetness in enough. We’re in a culture of “Not enough, never enough.” And this is largely a mode of living based on our primal instincts. Contentment in the wild leads to complacency, and complacency can often lead to danger. But we are no longer in the wild.
Draw a deep breath, and stop thinking about how you can get more. Try to think about how you can give more, and you will be surprised what doors open.
On Love
“True love consists precisely of the transformation of the appetite for possession into surrender.”
Surrender to the freedom of the person you see as your other half. A caged bird cannot fly. In oppressing, the oppressor becomes their own antagonist.
Maybe I am getting personal to my own journey, but people have a home in my heart. And so long as memory holds those homes don’t change. They are welcome to come and go. I love to see a weary traveller return. I would rather that any day over a trapped heart.
Couple this with a great quote from Pema Chodron.
”Only to the extent that we expose ourselves over and over to annihilation can that which is indestructible be found in us.”
So, show no fear in finding the indomitable parts of your spirit. The world may strip things away, but what remains is truly you. It is not embarrassing to show your humanity.
Journal Entry 1/12/24
The human mind hungers endlessly for more knowledge. A better understanding. The human mind seeks connection within its isolation. It seeks solitude in the sense that it craves to set itself apart. We seek complacency within progress. A sort of homeostasis within the everchanging state of humanity. We are forever changing and evolving. We are not who we were yesterday and everything once built decays slowly to nothing. Such is the law of entropy. But to do something meaningful in this finite life is to shake the web. To alert as many nodes as you possibly can. To touch as many lives as you can.
Where others strive to make no ripples and draw no attention, be brave enough to stand out. Be brave and stupid. Stupidly brave.
Intrinsic Motivators
• Be driven by the question, not a particular answer.
• “I’m going to be able to use this knowledge and experience to help others someday.”
• The idea of worth it, is based on an outcome. Your work is a devotional practice.
Outro
I’ve had a good week. It’s been nice to focus in on the things I want for myself and to be intaking a lot of information and knowledge that I’ve been seeking.
I will leave you with this quote about the shortcoming of words.
”… Lamenting the deficiency of language as a vessel to hold our most oceanic experiences.”
For all those moments that there are no words to describe. We call that awe.
Stay warm my friends.

p.s. The man in the shot below saw me taking some photos on the street and asked if I wanted to photograph him! It was such a nice interaction and though I was taken aback by his approach, he was genuinely a kind soul. It goes to show me that no matter how far you go, no matter what you do, people will surprise you. If only you’re willing to give them a chance.
