Amor Fati.

“Amor fati. Translated as the love of one’s fate. This saying introduces the concept that everything that happens in someone’s life is good, or at the very least necessary, in the story of their fate.”

The concept mentioned above is one I think about often. It is the concept of there being good in the bad things. If you’ve never seen a yin and yang symbol — it is a symbol that depicts the balance of the universe into light and dark halves. Within the dark half, there is light; and within the light half there is darkness.

I think that there is a common ground we all hold. A kind of way to connect, not only to our past, but the human experience in general. When we are not always so rooted in our own experience, we begin to be able to relate to everyone. The struggles and loneliness of the homeless person, the obliviousness of someone who has lived a privileged life, the victim in the oppressed, the anger in those who have been done wrong by. That is the point of leaders and thinkers and the wise, they are able to navigate this commonality and channel it into something more. Compassion… direction — advice. They are able to articulate what we all feel, but no one can quite grasp. This way of being is ever-present, yet it is hard to tap into and operate out of all of the time.

A solid week…

Relax your shoulders. Take a deep breath.
Today we are alive.

Stay warm.
