Ephemera.
Like a storm that comes to pass, or a day like any other. Things are… always in motion. Moving away, and moving towards. And the thing that freezes it, are pictures. Wordless like loyal companions. Unchanging — like so few things in this world.
I think that is why I love photography. It can beautiful. Turned into an advertisement. Shared as a secret. It can shout things, and whisper truths that only the subject can see. You see, we’ve lost track of how many pictures are taken. So many moments are saved every day. And our eyes see so many pictures in one day.
And there lies our quest right? To find a way to make special pictures. Pictures that resonate in a way that is memorable. And it’s not about the gear or the access, the this or that. It’s about how much you can learn. How well you can execute when your window comes, and yes, how your vision comes together in post production. It’s about how well can you connect with the people you photograph, and the way that you can look and actually see someone, or something. A vision.
It’s been a changing week. Summer becomes fall, and the rains come. I love the rain.
Thanks for reading, and as always,
Stay warm.
