Life, Love, and Consciousness.

Have you ever heard of the Stoned Ape Theory?

It’s a theory by Terence Mckenna and it’s a theory that supports evolution. It focuses a little more on the minutiae of evolution and how we came to evolve from apes.

Basically, what Mckenna theorized is that the addition of psilocybin via mushrooms is what sparked our conscious evolution from homo erectus to homo sapien. Now, I’m not trying to convince you of anything or support this theory — I’m simply presenting you with fun information to think about! So, let’s explore a little more.

What Terence Mckenna theorized is that the enhanced visual acuity achieved by low doses of psilocybin created a desirable effect for early human hunters. It enhanced their capability to provide and hunt! At least, so he theorizes. The theory goes on to suggest some pretty interesting things concerning higher doses of psilocybin, but I will leave that page for you to turn.

I just think it’s funny sometimes to think about an earlier version of us, lower in cognizance stumbling upon mushrooms and finding it as a tool — before the world had all of these labels and red tape around things. It’s like nowadays everyone has something to tell you about anything you encounter. And back then it’s fun to think about a time when things just were, and to put it in todays terms… you just had to fuck around and find out!

Life is so long, and life is so short, you know? It’s like you want to eek out every chance you get, but also, who’s to say that’s your last chance? Whatever’s meant to be will be, right? But that one time that one thing didn’t work out — when it definitely could have, SUCKS!..

It’s funny because one of the things about humanity and people that needs to be understood is that we can be very contradictory beings. And I don’t think that is a fault of our own or a negative thing. We’re human right? Always evolving. Sometimes, something is right when it’s right -- Aaand it’s not right at another time, and it’s important to recognize that.

To not give yourself and others space and grace to be contradictory at times is an unsafe environment.

The future is born in our imaginations; to be able to envision things and see a future that isn’t there is one of our greatest gifts.

When I was young, I had a love that I knew I had to let go of.
I got older, and I found a love that I didn’t appreciate until it was gone.
Time went on, and I found a love that I wasn’t ready for.

Everyone says that love finds you when you least expect it. And maybe it does. But the most important love that will ever find you is the love that you find within yourself.

It’s been a solid week! The weather here in Seattle was beautiful, albeit, cold. I love the fall time transitioning to winter. If you’ve ever watched Nacho Libre, imagine how Jack Black says, “It’s the besT!”

I hope you’ve been well.

Stay warm my friends.
