We Are Not Lost.

Your life extends beyond your wildest imagination but at the same time only becomes what you can envision.”

Follow your feet. They will lead you where you want to go. Don’t lose heart.

The Hawthorne Effect is the alteration of someone’s behavior when they know they’re being observed. This can be on tests, at tryouts, on dates, etc. I think it’s really interesting. I think I always do well when I choose to. Whether that’s consciously or subconsciously up until now hasn’t always been my choice. I’ve wanted to succeed in relationships or even at soccer, and subconsciously held myself back. I’ll never forget one time, when my coach was upset with me he said, “You’re fast when you want to be.” And I knew he wasn’t lying. But no matter how much I wanted consciously to win and be fast, when the time came - subconsciously, I wouldn’t allow myself to succeed. It’s painful. To know you can do better and not be able to summon it from within you.

As you gain awareness maybe you will come to a similar realization in an area of your life, or maybe you already have. Just know that this hurdle is a tough one to overcome. It’s the difference between a rock just being, and a rock realizing it is a rock and deciding to place itself in the environment as a rock. If that makes sense.

We’re not rocks though, we’re human beings, and we have the opportunity to consciously place ourselves in the world. As tough and as easy as that truly is, realizing your own capabilities and bringing those out, as well as understanding your place in the world is one of the hardest things to choose. It’s something we get to do in life.

Some, will always place themselves above others. Others always below. I think that as a positive and thinking human being we have to choose both sometimes. To maintain a level of humility as well as a level of belief in ourselves that can teeter on being egotistical. I want the best from every person and the best for every person at the end of the day.

When I was young I would walk through all the alleys and find different ways home. I guess not a lot has changed, I just have a camera these days. It’s been nice in Seattle. Thanks for reading this week.

Stay warm,
