And You Just Have To Be Okay With That.
One moment, they are here. They are real. They’re there for years. For moments. For the loud stuff. The quiet stuff. You experience life alongside them. Share in moments. Comfort in sorrows. You come to know their ‘isms’. Mannerisms, religious-isms, politic-isms, traumatic experience-isms. You come to know their optimism or lack there of. You can tel when they have a bad or good day. You know what they are good at. What they like. You learn what shows they liked as a kid or what inspired them to become who they are. You get to know and cherish and love these people.
And then one day they are gone. Gone like they never were there at all. And you just have to be okay with that. Because life isn’t lived backwards. It is only lived forward. And you have to hurl yourself forward or find that you are forever stuck a certain way. A certain way that you were with them. A certain belief that you hold onto when the lights are out and you think you are alone. You have to continue forward and never look back and be okay with that. That list of names that will always sting you in a way that is unique to only you and your experience.
I feel like the list grows more often than I would care for it to. It’s sad right?
But there is another side to it. There are many people you haven’t met yet. Many isms that are as numerous as there are hairs on your head. Unless you’re like one of my buddies and you happen to be bald. Over my time, I’ve definitely picked up some injuries that I don’t think I will ever heal from. None physical — but encumbering all the same. I think the thing of life is to not look down your nose at anyone. It’s to not look down your nose at anyone and to always continue moving. Now, moving forward is great. But the greatest of bows have a strong draw. Sometimes you must go back, before you are flung forward.
Thank you for reading the blog this week. A bit of a walk through the mind of a man processing the continuous loss of the people he loved most in his life and pushing himself to continue moving forward. Sometimes I wish it were different, but I keep my head up and my heart open. Sending some good energy through the internet. Enjoy the photos!
As always,
Stay warm.
