Of Monsters and Men.
It is said that everything is born. But monsters, monsters are made. They are made in our imaginations. The sound in the middle of the night. The scary crowd before a big presentation. The reaction to an upcoming tough conversation.
But I believe that monsters, when looked at from a different perspective shine a different light. The lost raccoon, who stumbled in through your doggy door in the middle of the night. The elation from the crowd, as they had been looking forward to your talk, and you delivered. The loving safety of your partner’s reaction to your words. The villain, who had wanted so badly to be the hero.
Monsters, are a myth. I would know, because to some, I am one. But they’re just seeing me in a bad light. I cannot change what I cannot change, and neither can you.
So if you’re having a hard time being a monster to some people: take a step back, and realize that is just a perspective. You can’t let anyone else define you. So what if they believe you to be things that you’re not. It’s about what you believe about yourself. And if you believe they are right, then I believe you can change.
If you want something in this life, it’s your right to get it. It’s your right to go after it.
I hope you’ve had a good week. I’ve had the opportunity to photograph a bunch of incredible people over the past few weeks. I am truly blessed.
Do your best out there. And remember,
Stay warm.
