The greeks said that to bathe in warm water was cowardly. And I’ve been thinking about that as I start my days. It’s important to stay grounded. Plus, it’s a bit of a challenge to start the day batheing in cold water.

The Way Things Should Be, Or The Way Things Are?

I’ve been studying economics lately, there is this concept of positive analysis and normative analysis.

Positive Analysis is analysis of the way things are. Normative Analysis is an analysis of the way things should be. I think it’s a good distinction to make, and it puts language to the way things go sometimes.

They call economics the dismal science because it uncovers uncomfortable truths about the way things are, and the way things are going to be.

Oftentimes, the way things should be leaves breadcrumbs to get there from where you’re at.
