The Hero returns to a transformed kingdom.”

Are you familiar with the hero’s journey? It’s what I based my project ‘Catharsis’ on and it’s the path a lot of the most popular movies follow.

It details the story a hero; first away from their home on an epic quest. Then, returning home after having gained some sort of ‘elixir’ - whether that is knowledge or something physical, with which the hero can improve their home.

Frodo’s return to the shire, having gained the wisdom and experience of travelling to Mordor. Shrek, back to his swamp - now with his beloved Fiona and Donkey in tow. A personal favorite of mine, A Knight’s Tale, details a knight named William’s journey away from home and back again. But he returns as a knight and a champion. The list goes on…

The hero’s journey resonates with us. On a deeper level, almost spiritual. We all want to improve upon where we came from. To take care of our homes. Some of us have made homes within the love we share with others. What we all share is that we want to improve these homes. We seek knowledge and understanding on our journeys. We overcome trials and tribulations that lead us to becoming better, and stronger people, intent to improve our homes. Improve our lives.

I’ve come to the realization that I am home. My home is being constructed every day and all I can feel lately is that drive to improve it. To love more deeply. To recognize, and not indulge in my own personal emotions. But to understand that to love beyond oneself is to benefit more than you could by only being behind your own eyes.

Here are some pictures from my life this week. I hope you’ve enjoyed the blog.

As always,

Stay warm.
