“To light a candle is to cast a shadow.”
- Ursula K Leguin

I think what Ursula is talking about is the dualities of life. To know and appreciate great happiness, we must have known sadness. In the same vein, as our awareness grows and our understanding of new things changes, so too does our understanding of things from the past.

I think we’ve all experienced watching an old show, or seeing a clip from a show we watched as kids — without the goggles of naivety. We catch onto the jokes only meant for adults. And just like that, the show takes on a new persona. Sometimes its a harsh reality and in my opinion can be one of the most painful realizations to have. But it is the price to pay in our pursuit of understanding. As things lose their glow, other things gain also our curiosity.

Balance in all things.

Short one again this week. I hope you’ve all been well, and that you’ve found fortune in your endeavors.

Here are some photos from my week.

As always,

Stay warm.
