Beautiful Scars.

(Originally written January 8, 2023)

I think about the passage of time and wonder how much time can really fix. It makes me think about those old injuries people around you have. They tell you the stories of how they got them, maybe they let you feel their scars. Like a mark of pride. Time can’t heal or get rid of those scars but time can help you to see them differently. To see that pain and ugliness as a part of a bigger story.

And I think that’s where my mind has been lately. I find myself asking the question; ‘how does this fit into the bigger picture?’ so often. I ask myself what picture I would like to be looking at, and I try my best to envision a path to get there.

What do you want for your future? How are you feeling in the now? The next time you are with someone, take a second and really look at them. Take in the features of their face, how the slope of their nose differs from others you have seen. How the cadence of their speech dances with the rising and falling of their breath. Take in the moment before you let it go. Appreciate the things around you. The birds, the fresh air, the room to breathe!

It all fits into the picture we are painting of the future.

What brushstrokes will you make?

Stay warm.
